Continuation of the 1st post-Journey for the 1st 4 months

Continu-ing the first post where I ended, today we shall see some pictures!! (Finally after all the lengthy wordings, yes I know)

First scan on 21st June 2012
Baby, you gave mummy a shock and I had to rush down to the gynae to see you earlier than our planned appointment with the gynae. I had spotting and had to ensure everything was fine.

See, that's you!!! That small little beanie-sprout-lookalike thing. So tiny and so cute... (only 3mm!)

Yes, you were at 6 weeks then when you decided to be naughty and gave me a scare. Probably you wanted mummy and daddy to see you earlier!

Looking at you, it was just so touching. I cannot imagine I am making a baby, inside me, I'm going to be a mum and yes, there you are, it's real...

After seeing you and hearing your heartbeat, doctor ensured everything is fine and gave me 安胎药 to make sure the pregnancy would be stable and advised lots of bed rest. MC for 1 week!! But grandpa wasn't too happy initially. Your grandpa never liked me to excuse myself from work. But anyway, I wasn't fully on MC for that 1 week. Went to work whenever I feel I'm ok still.

The 安胎药 was good and spotting was gone. Daddy and mummy went Macau and Zhuhai for holiday upon gynae's approval and everything was fine!  Just had to ensure not too much walking and REST whenever I felt tired, and EAT whenever I felt hungry!

Second scan on 20th July 2012
It was such a long wait to see you again finally!

You are at 9+ weeks already and you have grown to 3.3cm. That's how tiny you are. I think gynae did mention your nose bridge was high. Erm.. you should be a handsome lad if you are a boy or a pretty girl! Afterall, your dad and mum has got high noses and we are handsome and pretty! LOL! :D

Third scan on 7th August 2012 - OSCAR Scan
Though it's only 3 weeks, it seemed like 3 months to me!! Today will be your OSCAR Scan . (Click on link for explanation) In summary, to check for risk of Down Syndrome and it's usually done between 11 - 13 weeks. Lab will not take in any test once you hit the 14th. Usually this scan will take about half an hour. If the baby was cooperative, everything will be done in 15mins. I've heard of some babies who are not cooperative and mummy had to walk around and go back to gynae again and again so that baby's in the right position for the scan, and it could take up to 3 hours!!

So guessed which baby are you? The cooperative one or the non-cooperative one?

See!!!! You are taking form!! Can see your head, hands and legs clearly!! We started the scan and saw you waving your hands at us!! Cheeky baby ain't you? That made mummy nearly cried... You are just so adorable!! And see your leg high up there? Gynae said you "kiao kah", (cross legs in english). And commented on the high nose bridge again! Too happy, too touched, I could see your daddy excited and happy too. Thanks for the joy you are bringing us.

As this was quite a detailed scan and we scanned from top to bottom, bottom to top, and side to side. We thought we saw something sticking out from you-know-where. Gynae said 80% you are boy boy. Daddy is the one who's most happy, traditional thinking dad. Mummy's ok with any gender of course, so long as you are healthy and happy. :)

Some other pictures of this scan that show's both sides of your brains and thickness of your neck (there's something like ratio and you'd know if there's a risk for DS). Yours was fine.

And today you measure 6.7cm.

Ya, you were the cooperative baby. The scan was over in 15mins! "Guai Bao Bao!"

Hugs & Kisses,
Mummy Joanna
